Surgery Indications (When to consider surgery?)
- Patients with neurological symptoms and/or deficits
- Patients with large (>3-4 cm) tumors
- Young patients (<60) with any size tumors
- Patients with tumors with no calcification, T2 hyperintensity, significant peritumoral edema (see the “Natural History” Section)
- Patients with tumors in locations carrying reasonable surgical risks
- Patients who are healthy
- Patients with tumors which grew after a period of initial observation
- Patients favoring surgery over observation or radiation after thorough discussion
